Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2

R2 is a release update that is based on the prior major release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 SP1. The Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 theme is “The Cloud on your terms”, chosen to support the Microsoft cloud strategy which comprises two elements:

  • Hostability
  • Online Services.

To support the hostability of Microsoft Dynamics NAV the RoleTailored client will support remote and roaming users - the full client accessing the NAV Service Tier over the internet. The product will now also support the App-V deployment of the Role Tailored Client.

With regards to Online Services, Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 introduces online credit card payments as well as a connector that allows integration to Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online.

RoleTailored Client Access for Remote and Roaming Users

By connecting to the Role Tailored client experience over the internet, remote and roaming users will benefit from reduced cost and complexity when be able to connect to the RoleTailored client experience over the Internet. This will reduce cost and complexity compared to a solution based on Terminal Services/Citrix. As an added benefit, the RoleTailored client will remain connected to local resources, such as the operating system and Microsoft Office.

Microsoft Application Virtualisation support

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 RoleTailored interface can be deployed using Microsoft solutions. This provides a more convenient and faster experience for the end user as all integration with local applications is done on the desktop. It also cuts IT costs by centrally managing Microsoft Dynamics NAV client installations with automatic deployment to the desktop after an update.

Online Payment Service for Microsoft Dynamics NAV

This enables customers to process payment transactions from the Microsoft Dynamics NAV interface across multiple channels, including e-commerce, point of sale and call centre transactions. The Payment Service works with leading payment processing services and all major credit cards.

Microsoft Dynamics CRM integration

Microsoft is providing built-in integration with Microsoft Dynamics CRM which delivers multiple benefits including:

  • eliminating redundant data entries
  • keeping information up to date in both ERP and CRM solutions
  • providing salespeople with the ability to quickly access detailed business information about contracts, pricing and product availability.

Customers can choose between integration to on-premises Microsoft Dynamics CRM or Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online with the option to migrate to either option over time.

Treemap Visualisation

Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 provides treemap analysis that enables the comparison of any two values, for example sales and profits. The Treemap Business Data Visualisation for Microsoft Dynamics NAV provides a unique view on business data. It gives insight from different data perspectives and can be used to help identify outliers and actionable items. Combined with histogram-based visual filtering and integration into business logic and the user interface (UI) of the RoleTailored client, this is a powerful tool for end users.
