Businesses "planning for the future" at Cambridge Online Client Day
Another Cambridge Online Client Day has come to a close and, hopefully, those clients attending felt we had given them an informative and stimulating day with plenty of thought-provoking presentations and ample opportunities to network. The Huntingdon Marriott Hotel proved once more to be an ideal venue with its high quality private business suite and efficient staff.
Our theme this year was “Business Issues & Practical Solutions” with the emphasis on getting the best from Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics CRM implementations and innovations to support businesses in preparing for growth.
We were delighted to once more welcome Steve Farr, Product Manager for Microsoft Dynamics UK who didn’t spare our blushes in telling our clients we are one of Microsoft’s most valued and respected partners with the highest level of skills required to support the Dynamics range of products. He also outlined Microsoft’s huge financial investment in Dynamics and its Roadmap for NAV to 2014 and beyond, and confirmed the value to clients in having the most current versions of the software. Finally, he gave us all a tip for this year’s must-have Christmas gift: Kinect for the XBox 360, which does away with the need for any games controllers by using full body tracking.
We ran eight Breakout Sessions this year, covering KPIs, budgets in NAV, Workflow, Dynamics integration with Office/Excel, document management, Jet Reports, barcode scanning for enhanced stock management and, last but not least, web services technology in NAV2009. This range of subjects confirmed our positioning as not just a Dynamics NAV and CRM provider, but also our competence in a very broad range of services and technologies to bring maximum value to our client relationships.
Four of our Solution Partners gave us their enthusiastic support this year by running Breakout sessions and hosting mini exhibition stands throughout the day: Targit (business intelligence tools), Jet Reports International (reporting inside Excel), Equisys (document management) and Ranger Barcoding (portable data capture). Equisys generously donated an Xbox 360, which was won in the draw by Andy Gentle of Hobart UK.
The day concluded with dinner and a fund raising for the vital work of the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). Between clients, Partners and staff we raised the much-appreciated sum of £500. The raffle prize of an XBox 360, generously provided by Microsoft, was won by John Davies from Pacer International who very kindly donated it to EACH.
We started Client Day with a Microsoft video showing some aspirational technology that may well emerge from the realm of science fiction and onto all our desktops in the next few years. In the meantime, we have to work with the technology available in the here and now, which has already put at our fingertips remarkably powerful tools for improving business performance and the work environment.
We believe that by investing in deploying and keeping current the most effective technologies that solve real-world business issues - such as Microsoft Dynamics and associated third-party products - has to be the best way for companies to survive and thrive. To support those technology implementations in all our client sites, we are working hard across the entire business (Management, Pre-Sales, Sales and Technical) to acquire the top level accreditation offered by Microsoft (Gold ERP). To date, all our staff taking the support and technical examinations have passed with scores in excess of 90%. We are also members of a rather special club - Microsoft’s Technology Adoption Program (TAP) which places us amongst only 20 firms worldwide able to obtain beta versions of the software for testing and evaluation. We also continue to develop our capabilities as a one-stop-shop for business solutions, infrastructure and communications technologies.
Thanks very much to everyone who supported us and invested in their own businesses by attending Client Day this year, and we are already looking forward to Client Day 2011.
