ColumbusLive: the Microsoft Dynamics Customer Event

This week we were really excited to be with our customers at the ColumbusLive event. Cambridge Online was acquired by Microsoft’s Global ERP Partner last year so this year was our first time joining speakers from Columbus Global and Microsoft. The focus of the main event was to push digital transformation to help our customers leverage more from their investment in us and the Dynamics solutions; be that Dynamics AX, Dynamics NAV or Dynamics CRM.

The event kicked off with a presentation from our CEO: “If disruption is the question, then transformation is the answer,” Thomas Honorế CEO Columbus presented around his excellent new book ‘Disrupt or Die’ you can hear an extract HERE This set the scene for the sessions that followed, each demonstrating practical advice for digital transformation.

We had Columbus version of Ant and Dec presenting where you are in your digital journey in a ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ style interactive game. Using smart phones the whole audience joined in answering the questions. This was a great piece of audience participation, using mobile technology to connect the room and collating big data along the way.

Microsoft presenters Rob Pope, Laurence Tinsley and Paul Veck shared their knowledge on Dynamics NAV, AX, CRM and 365, looking at empowering business with data analytics and driving revenue and customer success.
In the break we had the BATAK challenge!!! BATAK is a piece of equipment specifically designed to improve reaction, hand eye co-ordination and stamina. You have 30 seconds to hit as many lights as you can, the challenge: where will the next light be? Formula One drivers typically score an average of 65 hits in 30 seconds. Our average was 29 with the winning score of the day 36, well done Ben!

We heard fantastic stories from our Dynamics customers: Horizon Genomics on how they are digitally transforming their business and Camgrain on how they integrated their systems and streamlined their business you can read their story HERE.

Then the fast-paced, hilarious launch of eCommerce showing the digital way to transform business. The performance worked through the purchase of a bottle of champagne with eCommerce and mobile technology. The grand finale celebrated the launch with explosive confetti cannons and each attendee receiving a bottle of champagne.
The day ended with breakout sessions on our 3 main solutions: AX hosted by Kevin Bull, NAV hosted by Clare Dyson and CRM hosted by our very own MVP (Microsoft Valued Professional) Sarah Critchley who also hosts CRMUG (the UK’s CRM User Group).

The ColumbusLive pre-event kicked off on Tuesday evening with a meal and charity auction, raising £9,000 split between charities: Maggie’s, Little Miracles and Rainbow Trust. The event was a great success; everyone had a fun and informative day. Feedback so far has been extremely positive with many customers keen to extend the digital transformation discussion for their organisations. All the attendees left with a vast amount of knowledge, a bottle of Champagne and a well-planned branded umbrella. It would be great to claim we used some fantastic predictive analysis and machine learning to anticipate the need for umbrellas in Kettering in March!
