NAV for Projects and Service

Dynamics NAV addresses the operational and financial requirements for those companies providing goods and services on a Jobs / Project basis.
Here the planning of the work, execution and billing is all important. Dynamics NAV tracks the Proposed Costs, the Actual (consumption) Costs and the Billed Amounts to provide full analysis of project profitability at every stage.

For Professional Service organisations, the software offers strong Resource Management and timesheet input tools. Coupled with Dynamics NAV strong mobile capabilities it enables field based professionals to track their projects.

For organisations providing goods as well as services, full integration with NAV’s Inventory and Purchasing functionality ensure that requisitioning of the goods is managed in a timely fashion and all costs captured.

Why Choose NAV for Projects and Service

Project Planning

Dynamics NAV’s Jobs have Planning and Quote stages before they are live. The solution supports detailed planning of time and materials down to phase and task level. Graphical views support Resource Planning.
Workflow and alerts manage the process throughout and include authorisation at key steps.
Document links keep track of Project Documentation.

Costs and WIP

As the project progresses, Dynamics NAV collects the costs associated with the project. These may be direct via timesheets, inventory consumption, expenses etc. Or via the Nominal or Purchase Ledger. Work In Progress cockpit supports flexible WIP methods including percentage complete, cost of sales and sales value.

Dynamics NAV’s Jobs offer flexible billing fully integrated with the Sales Ledger. NAV manages both Fixed Price and Time and Material billing.
Costs collate in the form of Job Ledger Entries and can be suggested for billing based on the schedule specified for the individual project. Project Managers can review suggested billing and adjust as necessary, either by pushing work back in the ‘pot’ to be suggested on next run or by marking work ‘non-chargeable’ in which case it remains as an unrecoverable cost for analysis.

Project Profitability Analysis

Dynamics NAV offers versatile reporting. All fields are available for analysis and Dimension Codes can be used to stamp transactions for analysis at GL level. Each Project and Resource can provide snapshot statistics to show profitability / utilisation etc.
The use of PowerBI provides powerful, graphical analysis of Dynamics NAV data. This can then pull trends across Projects, for example, to show how profitable a particular customer or work type is.
