Cambridge Online completes major Microsoft Navision† upgrade for world leader in industrial labelling

With 20 years experience, customers including the Arcadia group, Debenhams, New Look, Rubicon, Next and River Island and hi-tech production facilities in Europe, the Far East and Mauritius, Labelon is a world leader in industrial labelling.

Labelon has invested in leading edge technology for both the operational and design sides of the business. For operational needs in Financials, Sales Order Processing, Purchase Order Processing, Inventory Management and Production, Labelon use the Microsoft Navision† business solution provided by Microsoft certified partner Cambridge Online.

Implemented in 1999, Microsoft Navision has been the primary back-office system for Labelon's business and currently runs in the UK, Romania and Hong Kong. In early 2004, Labelon asked Cambridge Online to start planning the upgrade to the latest version of Navision providing them with enhanced functionality for stock management, item variants and Customer Relationship Management (CRM).

With a large Navision database containing every piece of data recorded since 1999 - including over 3 million item ledger entries, careful preparation and planning of the upgrade was essential. Cambridge Online carried out the software upgrade including migrating Labelon's bespoke modifications into the latest version, carried out user training on the latest version and conducted a complete dry-run of the upgrade process. Labelon chose the Christmas/New Year holiday period to carry out the live upgrade and, thanks to the careful planning and preparation, the upgrade was successfully completed first time. Users returned from their Christmas break and were up and running on the new system straight away.

Commenting on the upgrade, Christine Robinson, Company Accountant, said
"The upgrade went really well - although it took a lot of preparation and a long time to install. We had to do it over the Christmas period whilst we were closed, and lots of checks were carried out between the figures and balances on the old and new systems. Cambridge Online had one of their systems analysts on site to do any last minute adjustments. When we all came back to work after the Christmas break we were up and running with the new version. The upgrade was very successful."

Cambridge Online is now working with Labelon to deliver an integrated e-Commerce solution for Navision.
