FedEx celebrates 10 years of partnership with Cambridge OnlineDecember 2005 FedEx Express is the world’s largest express transportation company, providing fast and reliable delivery of more than 3.2million packages a day to more than 220 countries and territories. FedEx Express uses a global air-and-ground network to speed delivery of time-sensitive shipments, usually in one or two business days with the delivery time guaranteed. Supporting this operation is a highly advanced supply chain infrastructure including a fleet of 674 aircraft. Critical to the success of FedEx operations is the management of the aircraft fleet and the planning and performance of Aircraft Maintenance. In 1995 FedEx implemented Cambridge Online’s Aircraft Maintenance Production Control System, OpenAIR, at its in-house base maintenance facilities in Memphis, Los Angeles and Indianapolis and later rolled out the system to its vendor sites throughout USA, Europe and the Far East. Using OpenAIR to plan, track and manage maintenance activities FedEx and its vendors ensure aircraft are returned to service on schedule – an essential step in the success of the FedEx global network. Following 10 years of deployment almost 60,000 aircraft maintenance checks have been performed using the OpenAIR system with more than a thousand planners, controllers, mechanics and engineers using the system every day. Reflecting on the success, Mike Jones of FedEx comments Contact Us to learn more about OpenAIR. About
